Responsibilities

The Veteran Services Department advises local veterans and their dependents of their rights and entitlements under various federal and state laws, counsels them, and actively assists them by filling out necessary forms and papers, obtaining documents, affidavits, and medical records and presenting some before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The department assists in gaining admission of eligible veterans to veteran hospitals. The county Veteran Services Department also advises and assists service members and their families concerning allotments, financial relief in hardship cases, disability retirement, and other benefits.
