RSS Feeds Print E-mail

Subscribe to the Yadkin County, NC RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds to get county news and headlines delivered to your desktop or mobile device!

To subscribe one of the feeds in your RSS Reader:

  1. Click on the rss20.gif (RSS 2.0 icon) which corresponds to the Name of Feed that interests you.
  2. Copy the URL which appears in the address bar of the new window and paste it into your RSS Reader.

What is RSS?

RSS, or "Really Simple Syndication," is an easy way to stay current with your favorite Web sites by bringing the content directly to you. Instead of visiting the sites to find out if there is any new content since your last visit, use RSS to deliver the information to your desktop or mobile device. Many Web sites, like CNN and the Washington Post, now offer RSS feeds.

Sites with RSS feeds will often have a button to indicate that feeds are available.


What tools do I need to use RSS?

To read an RSS feed, you will need to use a news reader or aggregator. Internet Explorer 7 and Fire Fox browsers read RSS directly. You will not be able to read the RSS code in an email or some older browsers. A news reader will automatically check for updates of the RSS feeds that you subscribe to and then display the latest feeds for you to read.

There are many free news readers available. Some are web-based, and you can use them on any computer connected to the Internet, while others can be downloaded to your computer. Here are some examples of free news readers:
