YADKIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
OPERATIONS
The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office provides full service to all citizens of Yadkin County in law enforcement, service of civil and criminal process, detention services, and courtroom security.
The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office employs 55 full time personnel working in six divisions including Administration, Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Judicial Services, Communications, and Detention.
PATROL DIVISION
The Patrol Division is responsible for answering calls for service, enforcing North Carolina criminal and traffic laws, and the service of civil and criminal process. The Patrol Division served 6127 civil and criminal processes and answered 16,184 calls for service last year.
CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating violations of North Carolina criminal law. Detectives with CID investigated 2,294 criminal complaints last year. Narcotics arrests last year totaled 255.
COMMUNICATIONS and 9-1-1
The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office Communications is staffed 24 hours a day. The staff of the Communications Center is the first line of contact with the Sheriff's Office for the public calling for assistance. Last year the Telecommunicators received and dispatched 36,607 calls for service. Yadkin County enjoys the benefits of "Enhanced 911", a system that provides the telecommunicator with the telephone number and address of the calling party immediately after answering the phone.
JUDICIAL SERVICES
Deputies assigned to the Judicial Services Division provide courtroom security, and are responsible for the transport of all prisoners to and from our Detention Facility. These Deputies are also responsible for the transport of all mental commitments. Last year they provided courtroom security for over 250 sessions of criminal and civil court, and logged over 100,000 miles making transports.
DETENTION
Detention Officers operate the Yadkin County Jail and are responsible for safely and securely housing all persons committed to custody from anywhere in Yadkin County. This includes persons waiting trial and unable to make bond, and persons committed by the court system to serve an active sentence in jail. Last year our county jail housed 978 inmates.
