Michael C. Cain
Sheriff of Yadkin County, North Carolina
A MESSAGE FROM SHERIFF MICHAEL C. CAIN
Welcome to the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office web site. Please take a look at who we are and what we do to serve and protect the citizens of Yadkin County.
The Office of Sheriff is provided for in the North Carolina Constitution. Sheriffs are elected for four-year terms by the citizens of the county in which the Sheriff serves. The Sheriff is considered to be the chief law enforcement officer of a county. The Sheriff, his deputies, detention officers, and civilian staff, make up the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office. I was first elected by the citizens of Yadkin County as their Sheriff in 1998. I am currently serving my third term as Yadkin County Sheriff.
The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office is a full service law enforcement agency charged with enforcing the law, investigating crimes, apprehending criminals, serving the court system by providing courtroom security and service of civil and criminal process, and providing safe and secure custody of arrested persons through our detention facility. The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office consists of the Office of Sheriff and six divisions, Administration, Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Communications, Judicial Services and Detention.
Yadkin County is a rural county with 347 square miles, with 37,000 plus citizens who live there depending on the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office for primary law enforcement services. Other municipalities in Yadkin County include Yadkinville, Jonesville, Boonville, and East Bend. Each municipality has it's own police department which the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office works with and closely supports.
On a personal note, I am married to Betty Williams Cain. We have one daughter, Heather Cain Shew, and a son-in-law, Justin Shew. We are also the proud grandparents of Caleb Clifton Shew and Mackenzie Rebecca Shew.
