Fire: Prevention Print E-mail

j0407334[1].jpg

The prevention of injuries and property loss due to fire is best accomplished by fire prevention and safety education. Fire safety training is conducted throughout Yadkin County by the Fire Marshal's Office and local Fire Departments. Fire prevention information is made available to the public through the use of pamplets, books, visual aids, and classes.

Here are a few safety tips to remember:

  • Have a Home Fire Escape Plan
  • Practice Exit Drills In The Home (EDITH)
  • Have a working Smoke Detector in your home
  • Have a Fire Extinguisher near the kitchen, garage, and workshop
  • If your clothes catch on fire, STOP, DROP, and ROLL
STOP - never run, stop right where you are
DROP - drop to the ground gently, putting your hands over your face
ROLL - roll over and over until the flames are out
