Tattoos & Permanent Make-up
Yadkin County Environmental Health issues permits to individual artist that offer tattoo or permanent make-up services.  Environmental Health staff inspects each artist in an establishment to ensure that they maintain clean facilities, practice good handwashing and maintain accurate sterilization records for equipment just to name a few

Tattoo permits are valid for a period of one year.  Artists are required to fill out an application annually and pay the required fee of $200.00 prior to the expiration of their permit.

Rules Governing Tattooing

NC Division of Environmental Health-Tattoo Program

In accordance with NC General Statute 14-400 Tattooing; body piercing prohibited:

        "(a)    it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to tattoo the arm, limb, or any 
        part of the body of any other person under 18 years of age.  Anyone violating the 
        provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor."
