“Yadkin County Board of Commissioners after action Report for March 20, 2023”
During the March 20, 2023 board meeting, the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners took the following action:
- Recognized Lone Hickory Volunteer Fire Department for receiving an ISO rating of 5.
- Declared March 2023 as Abandoned Cemeteries Awareness Month.
- Approved a contract with the Reach Out and Read Program for early education and literacy materials at the Yadkin County Medical Clinic.
- Approved a revised agreement with the Piedmont Triad Regional Workforce Consortium.
- Approved the appropriation of $19,240 in Federal Department of Justice Funds for the purchase of firearms and related supplies for the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office.
- Approved a resolution authorizing execution of opioid settlements and approving supplemental agreements for additional funds between the State of North Carolina and local governments on proceeds relating to opioid settlement litigation.
- Approved Emergency Services Grant applications for the purchase of an all-terrain vehicle capable of transporting responders, patients, and equipment through wooded areas, as well as a grant for 24 dual band radios.
- Approved granting access to the PSAware app through Southern Software to fire departments in an effort to increase field responder’s access to near real-time public safety information.
During her manager’s report, Lisa Hughes also presented the Board of Commissioners with sample Mission and Vision statements as well as core values identified by county department directors during the recent budget retreat for consideration during budget preparations.
