Yadkin County Welcomes New County Extension Director November 2nd –

N.C. Cooperative Extension – Yadkin County Center is excited to announce that a new County Extension Director has been selected after an extensive search and interview process. Ms. Addie Wilson will join the organization on November 2, 2020, replacing Interim Director T. Bryan Cave, who is also the County Director in Surry County.

Ms. Wilson comes to Yadkin County after serving the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service for the past seven years as a County Extension Agent in two counties and most recently as a Program Associate in Health at the Little Rock State Office. Her experience includes training and working with Extension Agents statewide, and she has worked with agents in all areas of nutrition, 4-H youth development, community development and agriculture. She also has certifications in group facilitation, mental health first aid and is a registered yoga instructor. Ms. Wilson holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees in nutrition and dietetics from University of Central Arkansas.

 Yadkin County manager Lisa Hughes, participated in the search process along with a county commissioner, staff and community stakeholders. Ms. Hughes stated, “We are very excited to welcome Addie to Yadkin County! Her experience in Cooperative Extension as well as her enthusiasm will help us continue the great path that Bryan Cave has started in Yadkin.” Bryan Cave has served in Yadkin County for two years, overseeing two new extension agent hires as well as restructuring of personnel assignments with surrounding counties.  When asked about Ms. Wilson coming to Yadkin County Mr. Cave responded “We are extremely excited to have someone of Addie’s caliber join our staff in Yadkin County.  She has the right education, experience and leadership to move the office forward.”

In Yadkin County, N.C. Cooperative Extension is a partnership between Yadkin County Government and North Carolina State University. The office is located at 2051 Agricultural Way in Yadkinville with four extension agents, one support staff member and several multi-county and regional agents providing research-based education and information to the citizens of Yadkin County.
